Team and individual success in Yorkshire

SOUTH Worcestershire Lifesaving Club showed their strength in depth at the Yorkshire Speeds competition in Leeds.

Meg Clifford and Rosie Forson were taking part in their first senior competition in the 12-14 age category and Forson achieved an impressive seventh place in the 10m rope throw.

Similarly, Oliver Carney in his first senior competition in the boys’ 12-14 competition achieved top ten places in all of his events, narrowly missing a medal with fourth in the 10m rope throw.

In the girls’ 12-14 category, Mia Robins and Rebecca Lehaney traded places throughout and both impressed, with Robins claiming a silver medal for her 10m rope throw.




The mixed team of Carney, Clara Forson, Robins and Lehaney took part in the boys’ 12-14 category and won gold in the manikin carry relay and bronze in the obstacle relay.

Rosie Forson stepped into the team as a last-minute injury substitution and helped the squad to win a further bronze in the 200m medley relay.


In the 15-17 section, Cameron Leach enjoyed individual success with a silver in his first time racing the 200m obstacle.

In the 12.5m rope throw Lara Harding came sixth, with her team-mate Ellen Forson just behind her in seventh and Tom Clifford eight in the boys’ event.

All four of them then took part in the mixed 15-17 team which won a bronze medal in the manikin carry relay.
