IT WAS a good day for Evesham Sunday League teams involved in county cup matches as six sides progressed into the third round.

In the WFA Sunday Premier Cup, Bretforton Old Boys defeated Alma Tavern 3-1 with goals from Jamie Clarke (2) and Mike Jennings, whilst Inkberrow came from behind to knock out Callow End 4-3 with the goals from Greg Guy, Alex Griffiths, Harry Clark and Luke Allcock.

Offenham Rovers got the better of The Bell 5-4 as Stuart Davis (2), Jake Hall, Ben Higgins and Bryn Tomes scored for Rovers, whilst New Inn Pershore drew 1-1 with Droitwich Spa Eagles but lost out on penalties.

In an all-Evesham affair, Evesham WMC comfortably accounted for TDMS Harvington 5-1 through goals from James Schembri (2), Sam Ford, Elliott Grady and Dominic Hartland.

In the Sunday Minor Cup, goals from Brian Stokes and Adam Hinchcliffe helped Dragons upset Chaddesley Corbett 2-1, whilst Kieran Napper (2) and Paul McFarlane scored for Fortis in an excellent 3-1 win at Riflemans. Vale United bowed out to The Lodge 5-3.

There were two convincing first round wins in the PURR Home Services Knockout Cup.

Alderman United thumped hosts Bidford Juniors 12-0 as Antanas Brazdys scored six and Ben Driscoll a hat-trick, whilst Stour Excelsior were 10-1 winners against Bengeworth as the goals came from Marcus Ireland (3), Joshi Gibbs (2), Oscar Hair, Dale Simpson, Jake Harris, Edward Waller and Matt Partridge.

In the Bluck Cup, Asum Athletic upset higher-graded Harvington Harriers 4-3 as Aiden Booth (2) and Rob Burford scored for Asum, with Kieran Ashmead and Charlie Smith netting for Harriers.

Ashton 88 Reserves accounted for Titans 4-0 thanks to strikes from Oliver Godfrey, Jonathan Cother, Lewis Carter and Adam Keen and Tewkesbury Athletic edged out Bredon 2-1.

In Division One, a Jason Beasley treble was not enough to earn Mickleton Rangers the three points as they were held 3-3 by visitors Alderton.

In Division Two, the first Broadway derby saw Athletic come out on top 3-1 over United, with Gary Hawkins, Jason Horsburgh and Dan Moore scoring for Athletic and Jamie Lee replying for United.

Matt Magee, Steven Turner and James Dovey scored first half goals for Ashton 88 to help them to a 3-2 win at Drakes Broughton Rangers, for whom Simon Dorrell’s double helped the hosts make a fight of it.

Stratford HGC defeated previously unbeaten Fladbury 2-1 with goals from Joshua Barbor and Jay Tilbury, with Edd Mobley scoring for Fladbury. TDMS Evesham and Bear drew 1-1.
