Leaders are too strong

Evesham Editorial 2nd Feb, 2017   0

EVESHAM endured an afternoon to forget as they were beaten 37-3 at runaway Midlands Three West (South) leaders Droitwich on Saturday.

For Droitwich, it was a 14th success from as many league matches this season, but fourth placed Evesham now have their work cut out to make an impression on the promotion race as they trail second placed Ledbury by 17 points, albeit with a game in hand.

Evesham play that match in hand at Upton-on-Severn tonight (Friday) before hosting Woodrush a week on Saturday, when Ledbury entertain Droitwich.

Evesham will have the chance of revenge against Droitwich, albeit a stern challenge, when they host their fellow Worcestershire side in the Midlands Senior Vase final on Saturday, March 18.

The winners will progress into the national semi-finals and be one more victory from an appearance in the final at Twickenham.

PERSHORE were 43-12 winners over lowly visitors Keresley in Midlands Four West (South) on Saturday.

The win lifted the Piddle Park side into seventh place and they will look to build on this success when they visit relegation-threatened Kings Norton a week on Saturday.
