EVESHAM booked their place in the Midlands Senior Vase final in thrilling fashion with a last-gasp 23-22 victory over Stewarts & Lloyds on Saturday.
The Corby-based visitors looked set to reach the Midlands final – effectively the national quarter-finals and two wins from a Twickenham appearance – but Evesham full back Sam Hopkins held his nerve to slot over the winning penalty with a minute remaining.
Prop James Roberts and centre Mike Diston scored the tries for Evesham, whilst Hopkins converted both and landed three penalty kicks.
Evesham, who sit fourth in Midlands Three West (South), will face divisional leaders Droitwich in the Midlands final in March, with the date and venue still to be decided.
Droitwich, who have won all 12 league games this season, were 30-20 winners at Northampton Casuals in their Midlands semi-final.
Evesham, who still harbour ambitions of a top two finish and promotion, return to league action on Saturday when they host bottom placed Bedworth.
