EVESHAM United continued their pre-season preparations with an encouraging 5-0 victory over visitors Racing Club Warwick on Monday.
It was an excellent response from Carl Abbott’s side who had been beaten 4-0 by Rugby Town last Thursday and leaves the new-look Robins in better shape as they prepare for Saturday’s visit to Alvechurch and Monday’s trip to Stratford Town – both tests against Southern Premier Central outfits who play a level higher.
After a goalless first half, the star of the show against the lower-ranked Racers was new recruit Lee Chilton as the former Alvechurch attacker bagged a hat-trick to set the hosts on their way to a victory in which Adam Page and Matty Dodd also scored.
Trialist winger Dodd, 32, who has since committed to Evesham for the start of the season, is a former Sutton Coldfield Town, Worcester City, Halesowen Town, Leamington and Stourbridge player.
Abott’s men begin their Southern League Division One South campaign at home to Paulton Rovers on Saturday, August 17.
