Carter stars to win Ladies Cup

BROADWAY Golf Club’s juniors were out in force competing for the Ladies Cup, which was initially donated in 1991 by the ladies section.

The cup is awarded to the player with the best Stableford score on the day, which on this occasion was Max Carter with a fine 46 points.

Juniors captain Joe Golding just missed out on top spot on countback, also with 46.

Jackson Wojhan-Parker was third with 45, leaving Curtis Coane and Kyle Wright fourth and fifth respectively with 44.

THIRTY-SIX ladies competed in the Spring Trophy, presented in 1979 by past lady member Peggy Rodick.

With the course playing superbly, all were optimistic the spring weather would be kind and that the day would remain dry for the Par competition.

After a fine start, the clouds began to muster and, for a few, there was some unwelcome sleet to contend with.

This did not stop Jan Titley securing top spot one up. Isobella Lates was second all square and Andi Stedman third one down.

Bev Howard and Maggie McDivitt were also one down to finish fourth and fifth on countback.

BROADWAY GC was represented at the Gloucestershire County Seniors Scratch Foursomes match.

The three pairs – Mike Everitt and Les Seaton, president Richard Rouse and Les Carter and Peter Azizi and Brian Campbell – all travelled to Rodway Hill GC to play in the knockout competition.

All Broadway pairs won their matches convincingly, showing their grit and determination against tough opposition on a course which was challenging for the visitors.

All now look forward to hearing news of the next round draw, due in the next week.
