Bragoli to captain new-look Robins

NEW Evesham United manager Carl Abbott continues to waste no time in assembling his new-look Robins squad having made the exciting capture of Danny Bragoli from Halesowen Town.

Midfielder Bragoli – who will be club captain at the Jubilee – has been an influential figure at the Grove, where he has been skipper for the past five seasons, and Abbott is thrilled to have such a commanding figure on board as he bids to build a side capable of winning promotion from Southern League Division One South.

Abbott, assisted by Paul Tomlinson and former Robins player and boss Shaun Cunnington, said: “I am absolutely over the moon with this signing.

“Danny is a soldier on the pitch, an absolute warrior. Getting the right leader for this group was of paramount importance.

“In the dressing room he is an inspiration and he will drive the team and represent us, the management, on the pitch. I’ve huge respect for Danny, he’s been a top, top player for many years now at step three and I am really happy he is in our camp.”

Another key figure on board is keeper Reece Francis who has made the move across Worcestershire from higher ranked Redditch United, whilst talented defender/midfielder Aaron Roberts has joined from Bromsgrove Sporting having become the Rouslers’ record appearance-maker.

With FA Trophy ‘Rabona’ star Sean Geddes already on board as player/coach and former Leeds United player Simon Johnson recruited as a coach, there will be no shortage of experience to help guide the younger members of United’s squad.

Evesham, who have retained defender Shayne Anson, midfield duo Nick Hancock and Adam Page and forward pair Mark Magee and Sean Brain, have also snapped up former Worcester City and Redditch United striker Dave Reynolds, midfielder Lee Chilton from Alvechurch, forward Jack Till from Lye Town and centre-back Brad Maslen-Jones from Quorn.

Others on board for the new campaign include midfielder Joe O’Neill, winger Kai Tonge, winger/forward Ewen Dunbar, midfielder Lucas Price, midfielder Jack Horrell, defender Ryan Paddock, midfielder Connor Gater and defender Tyler Weir, well known from his days at Worcester City.

The Robins have confirmed the following friendlies: Tuesday, July 16 – Redditch United (away); Saturday, July 20 – Gloucester City (home); Thursday, July 25 – Rugby Town (home); Friday, July 26 – Bishops Cleeve (away); Tuesday, July 30 – Racing Club Warwick (home), Friday, August 2 – Alvechurch (away); Tuesday, August 6 – Stratford Town (away), Saturday, August 10 – Sutton Coldfield Town (away).
