PLAYERS are turning up in force for pre-season training at Pershore RFC under the stewardship of new head coach Jonathan Critchlow, writes Will Scarle.
More than 60 players took part in the rugby sessions led by the RFU Community Rugby Coach, whose arrival is being heralded as a new era for rugby in Pershore.
Chairman of Pershore Rugby, Anthony Perks, said: “We are delighted Jonathan has chosen to join Pershore when so many other clubs regionally have been keen to secure his services.
“Players and officials at Pershore are very excited to be benefiting already from his inspirational and professional coaching.
“Jonathan is offering players a varied and challenging programme of training, developing individual and team core skills and fitness, as well as strategic work, and he will be bringing in guest coaches to work with players on specialist skills and approaches.”
On the back of Critchlow’s arrival, Pershore are undertaking a strong recruitment drive and, as part of that, are offering new players the first three training sessions free in the lead up to the rugby season in September.
Contact rugby sessions are open to allcomers and are being held at Pershore’s Wyre Piddle ground on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 7pm.
Pershore begin their Midlands Four West (South) campaign at Coventrians on September 9 before a home match against Coventry Welsh on September 23.
