Worcestershire organisations recognised for supporting the Armed Forces community with 'Silver Status' awards

ORGANISATIONS across the county have been honoured in the annual Ministry of Defence Awards.

Bromsgrove-based Worcestershire Medal Services Ltd, HoW College and the Hereford and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce are among those to achieve silver status which recognises those supporting the armed forces community.

The status shows armed forces members are not disadvantaged in their recruitment and selection process, all positive policies relating to defence personnel are publicised and that they employ at least one individual from the armed forces.

The awards are aligned with the Armed Forces Covenant – a promise by the nation that everyone who has served is treated fairly.

The West Midlands RFCA (Reserve Forces and Cadets Association) has congratulated all of their region’s winners for 2021.

Philip Sinclair, Regional Employer Engagement Director for West Midland RFCA, said he was absolutely delighted 50 employers in the West Midlands had been recognised by the scheme.

“Having worked closely with these organisations over a number of months and years, we know of the commitment that they show and demonstrate on a daily basis, and applaud their recognition, which is justifiably deserved.”

Leo Docherty MP, Minister for Defence People and Veterans, thanked all the organisations which had proven their support for the defence community during such unprecedented and challenging times.

“The vast range of those recognised this year demonstrates how employing the Armed Forces community make a truly positive and beneficial impact for all employers, regardless of size, sector or location.”
