Man arrested after woman suffers serious injuries in Broadway Road crash

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving while under the influence of alcohol after a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are appealing for information following the incident on Broadway Road on Monday (January 7) at about 7.20pm when a black Mitsubishi Carisma heading towards Evesham hit a lamp post and a tree.

A woman in her 20s was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with what are believed to be life changing injuries .

The driver, a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of alcohol.




A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived the driver of the car, a man, had managed to self-extricate from the vehicle.

“He had suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital for further checks. The passenger, a woman, sustained serious injuries which required ambulance crews and the air ambulance medics to administer advanced trauma care on scene.
