AN EVESHAM woman has been charged with causing the death of a Vale war veteran by dangerous driving.

Joan Stokes, 62, of Ash Grove pleaded not guilty to the charge at Worcester Crown Court on Monday (October 12).

Former Evesham Royal British Legion President Noel Wilkes died when he was involved in a crash with a Ford KA as he crossed the town’s High Street in October last year.

The 90-year-old Royal British Legion stalwart was believed to have been heading to the St Egwins Social Club at around 7.15pm.

The case has been adjourned until further hearing in December, with aprovisional trial set to take place in May next year.
