Wellbeing Week takes a healthy view

Evesham Editorial 5th Oct, 2019   0

PEOPLE looking to improve their lifestyles can try their hand at a host of activities being held across Wychavon district next week.

The district council’s Wellbeing Week 2019 runs from Monday to a week on Sunday, October 7 to 13, with events to suit all ages and abilities.

Among the activities on offer will be yoga, circuit training, walking hockey, an arts group, tap dancing, Dementia Friends sessions and a community dog walk.

The theme for the week will be ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing- connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give’.

The aim is to promote positive and practical ways to improve overall wellbeing, including mental and physical health, raise awareness of mental health issues and the support available, as well as promote local wellbeing events and activities.

The organisations and individuals involved include Fortis Living, Freedom Leisure, Dance in Motion, The Fold and others.

The idea for the Wellbeing Week came about following a suggestion made at the Wychavon Partners Together event in November 2016 and Wychavon Wellbeing Week was first held in 2017.

Coun Christopher Day, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing at Wychavon District Council, said: “One of our priorities as a council is to help people to be healthy, active and supported.

“This week is a great opportunity do this and we hope residents will take advantage of the many activities and events on offer.”

Visit wychavon.gov.uk/wellbeing-week to find out more about the activities on offer.

Information and links also signpost people to various help and support available.

People are being urged to share photographs on social media about what they have been up to, using the hashtag #WychavonWellbeingWeek.
