Volunteers sought to help sort and pack donations for Ukraine

Evesham Editorial 7th Mar, 2022   0

WARRIORS are looking for volunteers to help sort and pack the many donations of essential items to help refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Warriors’ Sixways Stadium opened as a donation centre on Saturday and the response from the people of Worcester and Worcestershire has been so great that the Portcullis Bar in the East Stand is already full of items ready to be transported Ukrainian refugees across Europe.

The task now is to go through the donations and sort and box them ready for transportation by the Caritas Internationalis charity through the humanitarian corridor.

Anyone interested in helping Warriors staff in getting the donations ready for transport should email: [email protected]

Thanks to a generous donation of large boxes and packing tape by Springpack Ltd, the items can now be boxed up in large quantities but specific Euro pallets, to enable the donations to be loaded and unloaded, are still required.

Donations can be made at the Portcullis Bar on the ground floor of the East Stand at Sixways with access either through the gates in front of the bar or through Main Reception at the stadium.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has set up an appeal to provide aid to those fleeing the war in Ukraine.
