HEARTLESS thieves who stole a long service medal in a burglary at a house in Evesham have been branded ‘despicable’ by the chairman of the town’s Royal British Legion.
Alan Booth spoke to the Observer to call on the callous thieves to return the medal to its rightful owner.
It was taken during a robbery at house on Cheltenham Road between Sunday, July 9 and 7.30pm on Friday, July 14. Jewellery, cash in Euros and a passport were also stolen.
The stolen long service medal is awarded to either a member of the Army, Navy or Air Force in recognition of their long service,” Mr Booth said.
“When I was serving you had to do 22 years service to receive LSaGC medals – it’s now 15 years.
“I don’t know the person who had it stolen, but I hope the low life gets their comeuppance quickly and the medal restored to the rightful owner.
“I think it’s a despicable act.”
