WORCESTER Warriors is no more after the club’s new owners pulled out of talks with the RFU which could have seen the club return to the Championship.
An offer has instead been tabled for the newly-named ‘Sixways Rugby’ venture of James Sandford and Jim O’Toole’s Atlas consortium to invest in Stourbridge RFC with the aim of returning to the Championship by 2026.
Under the proposals, which will be considered by Stourbridge club’s members tomorrow (Friday), the lowly National League Division Two West side will play at Sixways – 23 miles from their Black Country home. And in a further development, the Daily Telegraph has reported a deal for Wasps to play Championship rugby at Sixways is close to being signed.
