A SUPERMARKET giant has submitted a planning application to make major changes to its Evesham store.
Tesco, which has a superstore on Worcester Road, wants to alter the layout of its car park and move its click and collect and hand car wash services.
In plans submitted to planning chiefs at Wychavon District Council, the hand car wash would move from its current position to the other side of the car park closer to Worcester Road, and the same for the click and collect pod.
The main access road through the car park will also be altered.
This includes reducing the number of exits off the mini roundabout from four to three, the entrance to the parking spaces by the current click and collect pod would be closed off.
The supermarkets plans were approved by councillors on Evesham Town Council at a meeting on Monday (March 13).
Councillors welcomed the improvement to the roundabout, but raised concerns about the ‘unsightly’ car wash signs proposed.
Planning chiefs at Wychavon District Council will make the final decision on Tesco’s proposals.
Speaking at the meeting, Coun Mark Goodge said: “The basic reconfiguration to take out that central isle for the access makes a whole lot of sense.
“It will make it a lot safer and easier to use.”
