A POPULAR men’s barbershop chorus lifted two trophies at the prestigious Dudley Festival of Music, Drama and Dance.

Pershore-based a cappella chorus Vale Harmony won with distinction in both classes in the competition.

The Eva Preece Cup was won with their rendition of Hello Mary Lou and Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and they took the Barbershop Trophy with Under The Boardwalk and Is This the Way to Amarillo

Chorus director Mike Gearey, said: “We were missing a number of our singers due to illness but I’m so proud of the way the remainder of the chorus stepped up to the plate to give distinction-worthy performances.”

The group’s planned concert on April 25 has been postponed because of the Coronavirus crisis.

A new date has been booked at Pershore Abbey on Saturday, September 25.
