A DEVOTED county fund-raiser has handed over the baton after more than a decade raising cash for Help for Heroes.

Ian Baldry welcomed Neil Roberts as the new team leader for Worcestershire for the charity to end 11 and a half years of service for Help for Heroes, during which time he became one of the first recipients of the Hero award for his tireless efforts.

Neil with the support of his wife Helen has been actively involved with Help for Heroes since 2012 when they organised a fund-raising event in their home village of Kempsey raising more than £1,200.

Within a very short period of time Neil became the local co-ordinator for Worcester and arranged a number of events which raised more than £4,000 for Help for Heroes.

“I am most fortunate in having an established team of experienced fund-raising volunteers,” Neil said.

“One of my priorities is to further increase our volunteer network to ensure Worcestershire along with the ongoing support of the public continues to do its bit in raising the all important donations to fund the services provided by Help for Heroes in particular our Hidden Wounds Programme.”
