I RECENTLY watched a television documentary about the Wolf Rock Lighthouse which is situated about nine miles off the coast at Lands End.
Due to the treacherous weather and sea conditions it took eight years, between 1861 to 1869 to build, but it has stood the test of time ever since, warning shipping of the dangerous rocks around.
In fact the lighthouse is itself built on rock out into the sea and for over all the intervening years it has stood as a beacon to all the ships which pass that way.
Through the years there may have been many people who have come into our lives and they have been to us a beacon of light in the darkness.
Jesus Christ told a story of two men who each built a house, the one building on sand and the other on a firm foundation.
When the mighty storm came the house on the sand fell down with a great crash but the one which had been built on the strong foundation stood firm against the fierceness of the wind and rain.
By telling this story, Jesus encourages us to invite Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour so that He can be there to help us to stand firm and strong even in the problems and difficulties which may come into our lives.
