Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 14th Nov, 2021   0

A FEW weeks ago my wife and I enjoyed a trip on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway

Once again we saw groups of children acting out the scenes which would have taken place at the time of the evacuation of children during the Second World War.

On the news this week there was an item regarding the role that women played in that war because so many men had gone to fight.

The news item mentioned the need for people to attend schools to let the children know of the sacrifices that men and women made during that terrible time.

This Sunday is Remembrance Day when all over our nation people will be remembering the great sacrifices made by so many on the battlefields and on the home front.

Whilst it will be a sad time for so many, we must always remember that people gave their lives in order that we could live in a free country.

Each time that people in Church take the Communion, they are remembering the Sacrifice of The Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.

So many of those who went to war did not know what they would be facing, but Jesus went to the Cross knowing that it would be a terrible and painful death.

He did it because of the great love that God, His Father, has for all mankind and He wants us all to experience that love in our lives.
