WATCHING the television programme featuring the Scottish Railways, it was interesting to see the battle between two sets of engineers.
On the one side were the Railway professionals and on the other a family of Beavers who had constructed a dam inside the culvert under the railway line.
The incumbents were doing what Beavers normally do, that is to build a dam so that the water level rises to their advantage.
The human engineers were doing what they had to do in order that the ground holding up the railway line did not collapse causing a major disaster.
It was really very interesting to watch the humans having to painstakingly remove by hand all that the Beavers had meticulously constructed.
Truly a battle of the wills.
A number of years ago I watched a series of films entitled “Fact and Faith” which depicted that whatever man had invented, nature had already done it before.
Looking around at the wonderful colour in the gardens and hedgerows and hearing the beautiful sounds of the countryside, one must surely realise that there is a Creator God behind all of this.
It has been difficult to be able to appreciate this over the past year, but now that we are encouraged to go out, let us do so with our eyes and ears open to all that the countryside around us has to offer.
Let us thank God that He has created all this for our enjoyment.
