Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 31st Jan, 2021   0

AS AN island nation we are never too far from the seaside and a trip to the beach.

Our ancestors very rarely ventured far from home and certainly not to go abroad, except for the very adventurous.

But all that changed when cross channel ferries came, opening up the continent; then the ocean liners taking us to the Americas and finally air travel with the whole world beckoning.

Now, of course with the pandemic our travel is severely restricted with going any distance a major problem.

But what about those short journeys from our own backyard opening up the wonders and beauty of our local environment that maybe we have bypassed so often.

Sadly, many of our local churches are not open but there are a number which are open on one or two days a week during daylight hours for personal prayer and contemplation.

Throughout this very trying time it can be beneficial to find a church that is open, to be able to step inside and spend time in quietness with God and being amazed and blessed by the great architecture and beauty that has been a wonder to the thousands who have spent time there before us.

Sitting in the peaceful environment of the quiet building, maybe saying the Lord’s Prayer, can be so beneficial to us in these stressful days.
