Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 13th Dec, 2020   0

LIKE me, no doubt you will be receiving Christmas cards and also busy writing cards. Many of the people who we send to or receive from we may not have seen for many years, but at this time of year we still keep in touch.

Friendship is a wonderful thing that transcends distance and time, and it is good to stop and think of what the friendship of those people meant at the time and be thankful for them.

This has been seen over the past week when a former Rugby League Player has run seven marathons in seven consecutive days to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease which has affected one of his close friends and former team-mate.

The hymn ‘What a friend we have in Jesus’ reminds us that whatever situation we are facing at this time, we can ‘Take it to the Lord in prayer’.

Whilst we cannot see a ‘Physical’ Jesus Christ we are encouraged by His words in the Bible that we can talk to Him in prayer in the quietness of our homes or wherever we are.

In the Gospels we read of many people who came to Jesus with a simple request for help in one way or another. In those times the person was literally coming with a prayer and we can do the same today.
