ON a ‘Gardener’s World’ television programme about three months ago we saw that Monty Don had a very compact solar fountain in his pond.
My wife ordered one and after a number of weeks of waiting we received the item, which looked very small and hardly powerful enough to be of any use.
However, to try it out, we put it into a large plastic bucket filled with water and it performs excellently, that is, until the sun disappears behind a cloud.
The diameter is less than the size of a small saucer but there is certainly enough power to send a spray a good height into the air.
During my life I have met many people who I considered being ‘not up to the job’ for the tasks in hand. But I am so thankful that I have been proved wrong in a good number of cases and those people have done an excellent job.
Every time I read in the Bible the list of the Disciples who Jesus chose, I am always amazed at the characters he called to be his followers.
But with his help, patience and guidance he led them to become the people who changed the world.
Let us learn from the disciples and make the world around us a better place.
