Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 12th Jul, 2020   0

ON MY garden railway there are numerous model buildings including houses, cottages, churches, stations and a windmill.

The other day a bird tried to land on the sails of the windmill and of course the vanes started to turn at which there was a frantic fluttering of wings as the bird endeavoured to steady itself.

Having eventually done so it flew off, no doubt contemplating a near escape. Life can be very much like that at times when we think that some experience will be good for us when in fact it turns out to be the opposite.

So often it is easy to make a decision because it looks good but very often in hindsight we realise that we were wrong and therefore have had to bear the consequences.

Jesus told the story about two men who each built a house for himself.

The one built with foundations on the sand and when the rough weather came the house collapsed and fell down.

The other man stopped to think and plan and he built his home with foundations on the rock and when the storms came the house was able to withstand all the pressures of the high winds and driving rain.

In these days of uncertainty perhaps we could stop and think about the decisions that we make so that we are built on the rock and not the sand.
