Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 5th Apr, 2020   0

‘LOCKDOWN’ is no doubt affecting us all in different ways.

Many have never spent so much time at home either alone or with members of their household, whilst to others it is the fact that they cannot be at their place of employment.

To the children and young people it is so strange not being at school, college or university along with their peers.

So much sport and entertainment has closed down.

This Sunday is ‘Palm Sunday’, when the palm branches represent the symbols of ‘Peace and Victory’.

The use of the donkey represents the ‘Humble arrival of someone in Peace’ as opposed to a rider being on a horse as in war.

When Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday, he came to show to the vast crowds that he was not coming as a military leader but as someone who was showing the peace and love of his Father, God.

Many, because of the ‘lockdown’, cannot be in church on Sunday, so let us think about the same message that the Lord Jesus Christ brings into our troubled world today.

That message of ‘Peace’ in our individual, family and community lives at this very critical time helps us to look to the ‘Victory’ over this virus that will eventually come as we obey the instructions that we have been asked to carry out.

Keep safe and stay well.
