Something to Think About

Evesham Editorial 25th Aug, 2019   0

EARLIER this week I read an article entitled, ’10 minutes to declutter your life’. Wow.

It went on to say how quickly and easy it can be to get rid of a lot of stuff we hoard and don’t really need.

At the beginning of 2007, my wife and I downsized from a large three-bedroomed house to a small two-bed bungalow.

After I had taken six trailer loads of our redundant furniture to a local charity, I remarked to the store manager he had now got more of my furniture than I had left at home.

So many of us cannot live with change, especially the older that we get, but we cannot continue to live in the past because the present and the future soon overtake us.

In the Bible we read about a rich young man who came to Jesus Christ and asked him, ‘What good thing must I do to inherit eternal life?’

Jesus asked him if he had kept the commandments and the young man said he had.

Jesus then told him to go and sell some possessions and help the poor. At this the young man went away sad because he was very wealthy.

What are we hoarding in our lives that we need to declutter in order that we can make room for Jesus Christ to be our Saviour and Lord, so that we can live in the Love of God?
