TENNIS lovers at Pershore Tennis Centre have served up another of fund-raising for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven (WBUH) despite already raising a smashing £4,500 for the cause.

Almost half of their centre’s 413 members are women and decided to take the court for a good cause once again in 2020 which will mark five years of raising cash for the unit.

Pershore Tennis Centre uses its annual charity day tournament as a fund-raiser for the unit alongside other club events throughout the year.

The money raised helps WBUH to continue to provide and offer the complementary therapies of Breast Cancer Haven as well as support any clinical needs of the unit team over and above NHS provision

This has included specific equipment for the Breast Unit, post-surgery bras and training for staff not funded by the NHS.

The centre’s tournament director Jane Warner said: “I’m delighted the ladies from across the counties have continued to gather together to raise money for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven. It’s such a worthy cause and one close to our hearts.

Fiona Charny, chair of the Trustees for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven added: “It is wonderful that Pershore Tennis Centre is so loyal and dedicated to fund-raising for our charity.

“We know our work resonates considerably with many of their members who have been directly or closely affected by breast cancer and this is why they continue to support us.

“We are incredibly grateful for everything they raise and look forward to another year working with them.”
