Runners stride out to help raise £4,000 for charity

AN ANNUAL charity run to Broadway Tower has raised almost £4,000 for two much-loved charities.

The Broadway Tower Run is donating £3,000 to Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and £800 to Doing it for Lottie, a charity raising cash for an adjustable bath for a local girl with cerebral palsy.

The run attracted 300 entries with more than 250 running on the night. The winners this year were Marcus Mumford, from Evesham Vale Running Club, and Shona Crombie Hicks (Tewkesbury Running Club), who won for a second year.

All age group winners received a trophy and all finishers a medal.

The Worcestershire Breast Unit’s consultant breast surgeon, Steven Thrush participated again in this year’s run.

Race organiser Roger Day said: “This was another very successful race. It was great to see Steven Thrush running again – he successfully treated my wife in 2012 and is an amazing surgeon. These donations to the breast unit and

Lottie have only been possible with the help of some very generous contributions by local businesses to cover costs.

“A special mention goes too to local farmer Keith Ratcliffe who kindly allows us to use his field for the parking each year.

“We would also like to say a massive thanks to all the runners.”

The next Broadway Tower Run will be held on June 3, 2020.
