EVESHAM residents are being urged to ‘Think Pink’ this October by having their photo taken in front of a town landmark, dressed in pink, to raise as much money as possible for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

‘Pink October,’ organised by Alison Hewitt from Handelsbanken Worcester, aims to raise awareness and much needed funds for the unit which provides dedicated support for women and men who are battling breast cancer.

Throughout October, the campaign urges people to wear pink, get their ‘pinkie’ painted pink or to organised pink themed events.

The Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association (VECTA) has thrown its support behind the campaign.

They are urging town residents and businesses to wear as much pink as they want and to have their photo taken in front of well known Evesham buildings to raise awareness of ‘Pink October.’

As well as that, women are also being urged to donate their unwanted bras as part of the ‘Think Pink’ campaign. £1 can be raised per kilogram and £1,000 per tonne. The unwanted bras can be dropped off to L-K Aerial at Badsey Remembrance Hall foyer on Monday’s between 6pm and 7pm, between 5pm and 9pm on Thursdays and between 8.30am and 11am on Sundays.

Chair of VECTA, Deborah Rolls, said: “I hear a lot of disparaging comments as Chair of VECTA about the lack of support Evesham receives from our own community.

“This is an ideal way to reach out to them and show everyone that we have support and spirit given the right impetuous, and that those who are public figures, do care.

“Joining us in this endeavour will not cost you a penny, just 5 minutes of your time, and in addition, be a great way to raise awareness for your own organisation, and show the whole of Evesham, and the wider audiences, that we can stand together and support a worthy cause.

“I hope that you can find the time, and a bit of pink, to join us.”
