Residents flock to Evesham's very own beach

RESIDENTS did not have to travel far last weekend to experience the seaside as Evesham’s very own beach was opened at The Valley.

The giant sand pit, made up of 50 tonnes of golden sand, was launched last Saturday as the Show Ground was transformed into a seashore setting.

Seaside offerings were brought to The Valley including traditional deck chairs, ice-creams and fun fair rides.

Further fun seaside themed days are planned throughout August from donkey rides to traditional Punch & Judy shows.

It will then be open every day through to Sunday, September 3. Entrance and use of the beach is free.

The Valley marketing manager, Phil Maclean, said: “With the help of James Dobson’s Amusement’s, we are delighted to bring the seaside a little closer to the residents of Evesham.

“It’s been well received and we just hope the weather plays its part over the summer.”
