Resident's call leads to green light for bus shelter

Evesham Editorial 20th Sep, 2020   0

AN EVESHAM resident’s suggestion has been turned into a reality thanks to the installation of a large new bus shelter outside of a busy supermarket.

Fed up of waiting in the rain, local resident Richard Porter challenged Wychavon District Councillor Ed Cohen to get a bus shelter installed at Morrisons supermarket on the Four Pools Estate, Evesham.

Happy to accept the challenge, Coun Cohen took the request to Theresa Tydeman, Morrisons Evesham Community Champion, who with the enthusiastic support of store manager Simon Bowden, set about the process of repurposing a one-time trolley shelter as a large new bus shelter with seating.

Speaking of the shelter, Coun Cohen was quick to praise the rapid-action taken by the supermarket.

”I’m absolutely delighted Morrisons have been able to act on my request to install this bus shelter for the benefit of all Evesham residents, this highlights the benefit of having Green Councillors who work hard for the community all year round.”
