Popular routes to receive some welcome TLC

Evesham Editorial 26th Aug, 2019   0

A REVAMP of two well-used areas of Evesham will get under way early next month.

Works are planned to Corporation Meadow to upgrade the existing riverside path to make it better for cyclists and pedestrians.

The 400m path will be upgraded from an uneven stony path to a smoother tarmac surface. The path runs from Abbey Bridge to the fish-fry and the route will remain almost the same.

During the works, access will be maintained at either end, so the path will not be closed completely. For the duration of the works, pedestrians will be diverted along the meadow parallel with the path.

The project is being funded by Worcestershire County Council and delivered by Wychavon as part of their strategies to improve the cycling network.

Alongside this the access road to Crown Meadow car park is also being improved. After many patch repairs, council chiefs now need to completely resurface the road. The work will be phased so complete closure will only be for a couple of days.

Martyn Cross, Engineering Services Manager for Wychavon, said: “These two projects represent investment that will improve facilities in Evesham.

“We’re pleased to be delivering both of them for the area and hope people will feel the benefits of the improvements.

We’re starting the work in September to avoid the busy summer holidays and will keep disruption to a minimum.”

Work on both projects will be begin on September 9 for four to six weeks.
