THE RESULTS are in and Vale residents have backed Prime Minister Theresa May’s call for a snap General Election.
The Observer asked you yesterday (Wednesday) whether or not you backed her decision to hold a vote on Thursday, June 8.
68 per cent of those who voted in our poll backed Theresa’s May decision, 27 per cent believed she made the wrong decision and five per cent said they weren’t bothered either way.
On Tuesday, Theresa May said she ‘reluctantly’ made the decision, and said only she could provide ‘strong and stable’ leadership, and winning would strengthen her hand in EU negotiations to secure a better deal for the UK.
Political commentators have though accused her of political opportunism, claiming Mrs May’s true intention is to increase her majority and obliterate Labour – an opinion poll last weekend gave the Conservatives a 21 point lead over Labour.
MPs yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) voted in favour of holding a snap General Election by 522 votes to 13.
