A MOVING anthology of poems was launched at Pershore High School during an evening in memory of former student Felix Alexander.

The 17-year-old committed suicide last year after tirade of cyber bullying before he moved to the Station Road school.

Felix’s mum Lucy Alexander was among the guests for the launch of ‘Ten Poems of Kindness’ which began with an introduction by Di Slaney, director of the publishers Candlestick Press.

Scottish Poet Laureate Jackie Kay, spoke about her involvement with the publication and read chosen poems; Kindness by Yusef Komunyakaa and her own composition, ‘Kinder’.

Poet Jonathan Davidson read further poems and then handed over to Pershore High School Sixth Form student Ella Spencer, who read ‘Thirteen’ by Kate Tempest.

Lucy Alexander then spoke on behalf of the family about ‘Felix’s Campaign of Kindness’ before Jackie Kay completed the readings with her own composition, ‘Dear Felix’.

Talented teens Ella Spencer, Rebecca Hodgins and Bryony Meek then took to the stage to perform Waves, a cover version of a song by Dean Lewis they first performed at Felix’s memorial service last month.

Call Candlestick Press on 0115 967 455 or visit www.candlestickpress.co.uk to purchase the anthology for £4.95.
