Pershore family inspired to make a leap of faith

A CARING Pershore family will be taking a leap of faith this Father’s Day in memory of a much-loved husband and dad.

Three members of the Boother family will be taking part in a skydive on Sunday (June 19) in aid of St Richard’s Hospice.

Kate Bennett, along with her mum Lesley Boother and brother Neil Boother, will be taking on the daring challenge in memory of Colin Boother who was cared for by the hospice before his death last year.

The trio will join other intrepid hospice supporters as they experience the exhilaration of a skydive during the popular annual event organised by the charity at Hinton in the Hedges airfield in Brackley.

They will be cheered along on the day by Colin and Lesley’s other sons John and Tom, who worked alongside Colin and Neil in the family plumbing business.

The skydivers will experience the adrenalin rush of plunging 10,000 feet out of a plane at 120mph, harnessed to an experienced parachute instructor, before coming to a safe landing in front of friends and family.

Mrs Bennett said: “Mum, Neil and I decided to take part in the St Richard’s skydive, which is an amazing thing for Mum as she is terrified of heights!,” she added.

“Last November we lost our lovely dad following a short battle with cancer. Dad spent his last couple of weeks at St Richard’s Hospice.

“The centre was fantastic offering a peaceful haven for dad to rest in, the staff were exceptional and cared for dad and the whole family in such a professional but personal and caring way.

“In short we couldn’t have asked for kinder people or a nicer place and we want to give something back,” she added.
