PERSHORE High School’s brand new art block has been highly commended in the Community Architecture category of the 2016 Wychavon District Council Building Design Awards.

The Station Road school’s £3million art complex, designed and built by Stepnell, was praised by judges for its flexible, multi-purpose design and how it fitted in with the school’s existing buildings.

Wychavon’s Building Design Awards are held every two years to recognise building projects in the Vale that show design quality, craftsmanship and sustainable building practices.

John Shuttleworth, contracts manager for Stepnell, said: “Good building design plays such an important role in creating effective learning environments for young people.

“We are delighted that our design for this terrific new art building at Pershore High School has been recognised in these prestigious Council awards.”

Headteacher Clive Corbett said: “The team at Pershore High School is delighted to have worked with Stepnell to realise our fantastic new Creative Arts facility. It offers our youngsters an attractive and inspiring environment in which to work.”
