New mobile Post Office service launching in Harvington

A NEW mobile Post Office is being launched outside a Harvington pub.

Following the closure of the village’s Post Office in July, Claire Carson and Ian Latimer, owners of The Golden Cross pub and restaurant, have successfully campaigned for a mobile counter service outside the premises.

The decision comes after Tim Swift, who had run the Harvington Post Office on his private property with his wife for nearly six years, announced his retirement last month.

Ms Carson said: “We’ve been trying to work out ways of incorporating a post office into the building for quite some time now.

“We felt keeping the service was really important to the people who live here, so we were absolutely delighted when we were approached by the Post Office to provide the facility that will enable the van to park outside the pub.

“As The Golden Cross is in the centre of Harvington, it will help everyone in the village use the service.”

The mobile service will open this Friday (August 12) and will run from 9am to 1pm each Friday.
