MPs vow to fight for 'appropriate funding' for county's hospitals following CQC report

EVESHAM and Pershore’s MPs have offered their support to Trust chiefs after publication of the new report.

Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston said he was ‘disappointed’ the Care Quality Commission asked for a further period of special measures but supported the decision if it had been made with patient safety in mind.

“The report commented favourably on the quality of care at our local hospitals and this reflects the dedication and hard work of our local NHS staff, who continue to serve the people of Worcestershire in an exemplary manner in difficult conditions,” he said.

“The prospect of this fresh team and the continued hard work of the staff in all of our hospitals make me confident that our county’s Trust can soon move beyond this challenging period

Pershore’s MP Harriett Baldwin said the findings did not come as a huge surprise and said Trust chiefs had expected a further period of special measures.

“However the report does make for disappointing reading and I hope that the new chair and chief executive will be able to make inroads into these issues very soon.

“It is good to see that the care delivered by staff is still rated ‘good’ and the feedback I get from constituents is that most patients value the hard-work and care delivered by our doctors and nurses,” she added.
