EVESHAM’s MP Nigel Huddleston joined more than 120 of his colleagues at the Alzheimer’s Society exhibition in Westminster which showcased the effects dementia can have on sufferers and their families.

The exhibition, ‘Dementia Care: The Crisis Behind Closed Doors’, examined the cost of the care system and highlighted the need for urgent need reform in social care across the country.

At the exhibition Mr Huddleston met people affected by dementia and heard about how it has affected them and their families.

The Alzheimer’s Society is calling for a Dementia Fund commitment in the Autumn Spending Review, committing to better quality of care and greater fairness in delivery.

“I am proud to stand with people affected by dementia and make the case for dementia care to be given the priority it deserves in the upcoming spending review,” Mr Huddleston said.

“One million people will have dementia by 2021 and it is vital that we are able to deliver high quality dementia care to everyone that needs it.”
