MP backs calls for more assisted living developments

PERSHORE’S MP Harriett Baldwin has thrown her support behind plans for more assisted living developments after paying a visit to one under construction in the town.

The West Worcestershire MP was recently given a tour of Rooftop Housing’s extra care housing development which is currently being built in Cherry Orchard.

Its part of a number of social housing developments being built by the social housing provider in Pershore.

During her visit the town’s MP also spoke with Rooftop’s chief executive Boris Worrall about the challenges of delivering extra care housing to meet increasing needs across the county.

Mrs Baldwin said: “We are lucky enough to have people living for a really long time in Worcestershire and extra care housing is a great way of allowing married couples to stay living together when one partner becomes ill or infirm.

“I’m pleased whenever I see extra care housing under development and this new block at Cherry Orchard is simply stunning – both in the design and the location.

“Whoever lives here will have both amazing views and easy access to some great bonuses like a hair salon and even a bar. I have offered Rooftop Housing my support as they develop plans for more schemes like this in the county.”
