Mop organiser hails success of fair's new town centre home

THE organiser of the Mop fair has hailed the success of the popular event’s heart of Evesham home.

Edward Danter has told the Observer the three day event is ‘going well’ in its new town centre location.

As this paper has previously reported, the Mop had to move from its former Old Brewery Car Park home due to the construction of the Waitrose store and early this year Evesham Town Council finalised plans to move it onto the High Street.

And in order to make this happen, traffic during the three day closure is currently being re-routed in the same way it was when the Abbey Bridge was being replaced.

For the first time rides are being housed in the Market Place and the amenity area along the High Street.

Mr Danter has said the Mop’s new home has created a ‘great atmosphere’ and hopes

“It’s going well,” he said.

“I spent a lot of time measuring up to make sure all the rides fit in their new home.

“It looks really good. I think we’re going to be really busy tonight and tomorrow as a result.

“With all the rides in the town centre it has created a great atmosphere with all the lights and the music.

“I hope the plans in place continue for many years – that’s what I’ve been asking for.

“We seem to be getting really good feedback from the residents.”

The Mop fair continues tonight from 4pm until 10.30pm. Tomorrow the fair is open from 12pm until 10pm.
