SUPER singers from Evesham and Pershore took two of the four titles in this year’s W-Factor competition.

Vale vocalist Amy Hodges, 14, won the under-15 category and 17-year-old Maddison Clayton, singing in her home town at the packed Number 8 Community Arts Centre, took the over-15s crown. The other winners were from Droitwich – Amelia Wood, 15, (music) and Poppy Haughton, 17 (dance).

Last year’s winner Sophie Gilbert provided the entertainment as the judges deliberated on their verdict during the Valentine’s Day event.

Coun Rob Adams, portfolio holder for community engagement, culture and sport at Wychavon District Council, said it was a hugely enjoyable evening.

“The young people who took part are so talented and their passion for the performing arts really shone through.

“Although not everyone could be selected as a winner, every participant should be very proud of themselves for getting through to the final stage of the competition.”

Wychavon chairman Coun Frances Smith gave out the trophies and Coun Adams the certificates.
