Jubilee party planners urged to get in touch with town council

Evesham Editorial 26th Mar, 2022   0

PATRIOTIC residents who want to hold a street party to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are being urged to get in touch with Evesham Town Council.

Town chiefs will help residents, businesses and local communities celebrate this historic anniversary with bunting packs, flags, invitations and support with road closure applications which will be free for community street parties being held during the four-day Jubilee weekend from June 2 to 5.

To apply for the ‘Street Party Pack’, e-mail [email protected] with a name, phone number and address.

It’s part of a variety of activities being planned to mark the historic occasion which will also see Mayor of Evesham Coun Sue Amor run a competition for the best dressed residential property in Evesham.

Businesses in town are also encouraged to participate in decorating their shop fronts to help enhance the town and certificates will be handed to those with the best window displays.

Evesham Town Council plans to plant at least 70 native trees this year, mainly in the autumn, as part of their Jubilee celebrations.

There will be a gathering at Hampton Ferry on June 2 in the evening to witness the beacon being lit at the top of Clarks Hill.

“We know many of our residents will want to mark this historic anniversary and celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s remarkable seventy-year reign over the four days of the Jubilee,” Coun Amor said.

“This is the first time any British monarch has celebrated a platinum Jubilee and given Evesham’s long and proud association with the Royal Family, we want to make it easy for local residents, businesses and communities to organise a street party and celebrate Her Majesty’s incredible record of public service.”
