A HEARTLESS man dumped a cat in its carrier at the side of the road in Honeybourne and then drove off.

The RSPCA are now appealing for information after black female cat was abandoned in Weston Road by a man in a passing car between 5pm and 6pm last Friday.

A member of the public contacted the RSPCA after spotting the man in the dark coloured 4X4 dumping a large cat carrier at the side of the road.

The man then opened the door to the car carrier before driving off.

Inspector Adrian Langley said: “The cat appears to have been well cared for and was wearing a distinctive purple diamante collar.

“She appeared to be quite nervous and was reluctant to leave the basket so she was thankfully rescued before she strayed onto the road as dumping her in an unfamiliar area could have easily resulted in her being seriously injured or killed on the road.

“We urge people to remember that they have a responsibility to care for their pets, and if they feel they can no longer care for them take care to find them a new home and not just dump them like rubbish by the side of the road

“Unfortunately she isn’t microchipped, so it is very difficult to know where she has come from.

“We are desperately hoping someone will be able to help us identify her and the person who was responsible for her care and urge anyone with any information as to where she came from to contact us on 0300 123 8018.”
