Health team in pink with a win

Evesham Editorial 7th Apr, 2019   0

A COUNTY health team responsible for Worcestershire’s community hospital buildings has been named among the best in the country at a national awards event.

Members of the Estates and Facilities Team at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust have won the Estates and Facilities Management Award at the national Leading Healthcare Awards 2019. They recognise outstanding practice across the healthcare sector.

The team were named winners of the award in recognition of their leadership of a project called One Public Estate, which brings together estates teams from across the public sector in Worcestershire to make the best and most effective use of local sites and buildings.

Health chiefs have been working with their colleagues from the county and district councils, the fire and rescue service and local police to develop this strategy. This includes recent projects to develop a feasibility study into the potential for a new Evesham Community Hospital building, and the shared use of the King’s Court complex near Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

This month, the Health and Care Trust will move out of their current base at Isaac Maddox House and into the complex already occupied by corporate teams from the Acute NHS Trust. The Health and Care NHS Trust will replace the local fire service who now share the Hindlip complex with West Mercia Police.

Mark Fenton, associate director for Estates and Facilities Management at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “This is a great achievement for our team but is also clear recognition of the excellent partnership working across public sector estates and facilities teams here in Worcestershire.

“This is about more than bricks and mortar; it is about local public sector organisations working in collaboration to provide the best local facilities for local people in the most cost effective way possible.”
