Hall plans go back to public

Evesham Editorial 1st Jul, 2019   0

THE LONG-RUNNING saga over a proposed new community hall in the town has been revived after a further public consulation was agreed by town councillors.

Despite winning planning permsission for the proposed new venue next to Pershore Cemetery on Defford Road, the proposal will go back to the public after vocal opposition to the plans.

Members of Pershore Town Council agreed on Tuesday (June 25) to hold a further public meeting at the town’s High School on Station Road to residents to hear about the project and ask questions

A formal consultation with the assistance of Wychavon District Council with all town residents on the electoral roll was also agreed.

No date has been confirmed but Town Council chiefs hope to begin asking residents for their thoughts in early July.

Council chiefs will also investigate a possible new site for the hall in the town itself in a bid to end the long-running debate.
