Grand way to improve wellbeing

A BID to encourage wellbeing has seen participants clock up almost 1,000 miles.

Organised by Platform Housing Group, the Be Active: How Far Can We Go project involved both colleagues and customers who were challenged to walk, run, cycle and swim.

Over a week, 39 participants totalled more than 980 miles.

The project was sponsored by three of the group’s contractors, Travis Perkins Managed Services, DJD Architects and Anthony Collins Solicitors; they awarded sports watches to three randomly selected participants.

Chris Colley, Community Officer at Platform Housing Group explained: “Encouraging activity during a pandemic is no easy task; that’s why we decided to launch an initiative to travel from our most northern office in Louth, Lincolnshire to our most southern one in Worcester. However, this total – 182.76 miles – was soon surpassed. It was then that we decided to try and travel the distance from John O’Groats to Land’s End. And we did it!”

One of the winners, Paul Barber, a Platform Housing Group customer, walked 16 miles, even though he uses crutches.

“I was delighted to get involved with this project and get out and about. I am thrilled with the watch. Thanks to Platform Housing Group for organising it,” he said

Platform Housing Group’s operating area is from Herefordshire in the West to the Lincolnshire coast in the East, and from the Derbyshire Dales in the North to the Cotswolds in the South.
