TRAVEL ALERT: M5 closed in both directions after two lorry crash

Evesham Editorial 6th Feb, 2024   0

THE M5 to the south of Evesham and Pershore remains closed after an incident involving two lorries this morning.

It is closed between junction nine and 11 due to a collision and damage to the central reservation at 2.40am.

One of the lorries involved crossed over from the southbound carriageway to the northbound and overturned, spilling diesel.

There are delays of 60 minutes southbound on the approach and seven and a half miles of congestion.

Delays of 15 minutes northbound are currently being reported by National Highways.

Due to the significant barrier damage and diesel spill, it is likely closures will remain in place throughout today.

Diversion routes are in place for northbound traffic following the solid triangle symbol via the A40, A417 and M50.

Southbound traffic is asked to follow the solid circle symbol via the A438, A38 and A40.

Drivers are being advised to plan their journeys and allow additional time.
