COUNCIL chiefs have reappointed long-serving Evesham councillor Robert Raphael as chairman for a further year.
The Evesham North councillor was re-elected during the annual meeting of Wychavon District Council, its first at the Civic Centre in Pershore for 14 months as Covid restrictions begin to ease.
Coun Raphael took over the chains of office from Coun Frances Smith last year, who herself had served for the past two years. Coun Alex Sinton was again confirmed as vice chairman during the meeting.
After being confirmed in the role, Coun Raphael praised officers for making the venue secure to allow the council to conduct its business in person for the first time in more than a year.
The popular councillor confirmed his mother Diana would again act as his consort and Rev Andrew Spurr from All Saints Church would serve as chaplain.
